Engineering Courses under BTech Programs

Following are the engineering courses offered for admission under BTech programme. Candidates can choose any of them based on their interest. National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts JEE Main for admission to the top engineering institutes in India such as NITs, IIITs, CFTIs, etc. Apart from this, there are number of renowned engineering institutes that accept JEE Main scorecard for admission. After qualifying JEE Main, top 2.5 lakh qualified candidates are called for appearing in JEE Advanced for admission to IITs.



Engineering Courses: Eligibility Criteria

It is important to meet the eligibility criteria for admission to the engineering courses. The criteria for admission to the BTech and MTech programme are different from each other. Look at the details below:


BTech Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates should be a pass in Class 12 with minimum 60% marks from a recognized Board.
  • They should have studied Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in Class 12.
  • Candidates appearing in Class 12 can also apply for admission.

BTech Lateral Entry Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have studied a three-year Diploma from a recognized University.
  • Candidates should have secured minimum 45% marks in aggregate.

MTech Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have passed four-year BE/BTech from a recognized University.
  • Candidates should have qualified GATE (not required for some institutes)

What is the difference between Polytechnic and B.Tech?

  • The basic difference between polytechnic and B.Tech is that polytechnic is a diploma course whereas B.Tech is a degree course.
  • Polytechnic courses are generally for three years, whereas B.Tech is a four year undergraduate programme.
  • In terms of fee structure, B.Tech is a high fee course as compared to polytechnic.
